We open
hearts.
As Jews with the sacred responsibility of making the world a better place, we approach our teaching and learning with intentionality, reflection, and compassion; recognizing the individuality of each student. Knowledge prepares our students for tomorrow, but ethics and ethical living illuminate their hearts today. We open
minds.
Traditional Jewish wisdom informs our contemporary pedagogy. We are fully committed to knowing each student as a unique learner, challenging them to stretch their minds, take on multiple perspectives, persevere through difficulties, and approach learning with joy and integrity.

We open worldsbeyond our own.
When we ask a child to learn, we are asking them to discover new ideas and worlds previously unknown to them. To embark on that journey successfully, they must develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. We recognize the whole child and their respective and unique gifts, and we prepare them well for a life of exploration and curiosity.
Our Mission, Vision, & Values
The mission of JCDS, Boston's Jewish Community Day School, is to provide a premier education that:
Nurtures each student's capacity for intellectual discovery and decision-making within a respectful, pluralistic, dual language Hebrew-English environment.
Gives our graduates the ability to create their futures informed by Jewish values, texts and culture, and to make a difference in their communities and in the world.
Kindles the flame of lifelong learning in all its constituencies and serves as an inspirational model of innovative, effective and joyful teaching, and learning beyond the school.

Thank you so very much for welcoming Prizmah school leaders into your beautiful JCDS home yesterday. Everyone was touched that the tour was so intentional, showing us the culture, the milieu, the way the mission comes to life, and the exceptional way you grow leaders. We were thrilled to peek into classrooms, hear from specialists and from so many of your team leaders. The words of your students and their tefillah brought tears to our eyes and filled our buckets. It was the perfect closing of meaningful professional development.
